Greg and Pam Collins
As Nature Intended Hoof Care is owned and operated by Greg and Pam Collins. We serve the western Carolinas from our home in Hendersonville. We maintain regularly scheduled routes, and we're always happy to add new clients. We provide trimming, booting, and shoe removal. We can also help with thrush treatment. We don't mind working with lamanitic horses, or horses diagnosed with Navicular Syndrome.

Greg has traveled around the country studying the different trimming techniques that have evolved from studying the feet of feral horse rounded up by the Bureau of Land Management. The wild horses of the Great Basin live long, healthy lives with bare feet, on rugged terrain, while constantly moving to find food and water. Our domestic horses can have the same beautiful, healthy feet by removing steel shoes, trimming to aid natural wear, and making slight adjustments to diet and lifestyle.
The beautiful feet in this photo belong to a feral horse. The feet are short, strong, and capable of traveling over rough terrain for many miles every day. Wild horses do not suffer from laminitis or navicular disease like our domestic horses. After a period of transition, natural trimming will allow your horse to have the same feet. Shoes become unnecessary, even on trails. The transition from shoes to completely healed feet takes between 6 months and a year, during which time your horse can, and should, be ridden regularly. During the transition period we recommend hoof boots for riding on rough terrain. We custom fit boots that will stay on even under the toughest conditions.
We stock the full line of
Swiss Horse Boots and pads. Swiss Horse Boots are the finest boots
available, and they can be modified to fit your horse's feet perfectly,
without voiding the manufacturer's warranty. We can also help fit
EasyCare and Renegade Boots. The EasyCare Glove, shown here, is an
excellent boot, but it must fit perfectly to work.
Give us a call. We will gladly answer your questions and even provide a free consultation. We do not charge extra for farm calls, and we offer discounts for multiple horses and referals.
